This is what you helped us achieve in 2014 – and it’s not over yet!

This year has been BIG for ONE in Africa – but it’s not over yet!

Together with our partners, we launched the Do Agric campaign, which saw 19 of Africa’s musical giants record and perform the amazing Cocoa na Chocolate song to put agriculture at the heart of the development agenda. With a backing of more than 2.1 million Africans we won!

More recently we have been fighting the Trillion Dollar Scandal – the biggest heist you’ve never heard of! This scandal allows criminals to deprive developing countries of a trillion dollars every year, through money laundering and embezzlement. 87,000 people demanded action from leaders at the G20 Summit in Australia, and some positive steps forward were taken, with room for improvement next year.

On top of this, globally, we have been pushing the Energize Africa Act – a piece of  legislation in the United States that would help to make energy access a reality for 50 million people currently living without it across Africa and beyond, which would be an amazing achievement! At the moment the Bill is sitting with the Senate, BUT, we are doing everything we can to get it passed.

ONE Africa Award 2014

In August, we called for entries to the ONE Africa Award, a $100,000 prize for African NGOs working on any of the Millennium Development Goals.  It’s our seventh year running and we will be announcing the winner on Sunday 30th November in a VERY unique way!

Most recently though, where your actions and voices have counted the most, is your participation in our #EndEbola campaign.  So far more than 200,000 of you have signed the petition asking world leaders to act on Ebola, calling for financial and medical assistance to combat this deadly virus. This is incredible! The global community is listening, and that’s because of your actions and your voices.

Last week we even had Nollywood actor and activist Desmond Elliot go into the Big Brother Africa house to talk to the housemates about the dangers of, and solutions to the epidemic.

Which is a BIG clue about what else we have planned for 2014.  Keep watching closely!
